"…a very special night out - what a beautiful place…"
PETERSHAM PLAYHOUSE specialises in producing and directing site-specific promenade theatre. Guided by actors our shows embrace all areas of the performing arts. This is coupled with a beautifully crafted and detailed approach to set design, fully submerging audiences into unforgettable worlds.
Past shows include Jabberwocky, a theatre trail set deep within Cornbury Park's Wychwood forest; A Christmas Carol, a promenade performance with puppetry set at Petersham House; La Petite Mort, a collaboration with The Old Vic Tunnels and Les Enfants Terrible; and Myrkwood: A Journey with the Brothers Grimm at 2012’s Wilderness Festival.
As well as our own productions Petersham Playhouse also focuses on commissioning new work that supports and nurtures young and emerging talent. Since opening we have produced a number of shows from young writers and performers including Dr Quimpugh's Compendium of Peculiar Afflictions by Phil Porter (RSC) and Martin Ward (Royal Opera), Superbolt Theatre's Piatto Finale, and Debussy & Ravel: Earth & Water, a conversation at the piano with Martin Jacoby.
"…an outstanding production; accompanied with wonderful live music."
